What Is Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate?
Sodium cocoyl glutamate, CAS 68187-32-6, EC 269-087-2, is a mild amino-acid surfactant made from coconut fatty acids and glutamic acid. It gives a soft, creamy foam with low irritation, so it is used in facial cleansers, body washes, sulfate-free shampoos, shaving products and baby care.
This aqueous grade has active matter 30 ± 2%, sodium chloride ≤5.5% and pH 8–9.5 measured on a 10% solution. It is different from the high-active powder and from single-chain sodium lauroyl glutamate.
It is not regulated as dangerous goods; use eye protection with the concentrate. Shelf life is 12 months unopened in cool, dry storage. Mildness claims for finished products need their own testing.
