What is rice bran wax
A Hard Plant Wax Recovered from Rice Bran Oil
Rice bran wax is separated from crude rice bran oil during dewaxing, then de-oiled and refined. It consists mainly of long-chain fatty acid esters, which give it a high melting point, firm structure and a glossy finish.
Recovered from rice processing, rice bran wax is a plant-based option for formulations using carnauba, candelilla, beeswax or petroleum waxes. Confirm the substitution through formulation trials.

How it is made
From Crude Rice Bran Oil to Refined Wax
Five controlled steps turn crude wax from rice bran oil dewaxing into a consistent, light-colored refined wax.
Crude Wax Recovery
Crude wax is separated from rice bran oil during the dewaxing step of oil refining.
De-oiling
Residual oil is removed to raise wax content and improve hardness and consistency.
Degumming
Gums and impurities are removed to give a clean, stable wax.
Decolorization & Refining
The wax is decolorized and refined to the target color and melting range.
Batch Inspection
Physical and chemical tests plus heavy-metal and contaminant checks before release with a COA.
Applications
Where Rice Bran Wax Is Used
A structuring, gloss and coating wax across cosmetic, food, pharmaceutical and technical formulations.
Cosmetics & Skin Care
Lipsticks, lip balms, mascaras, creams and sticks, where it adds structure, gloss and oil binding.
Food Coatings
Coating for candy and fresh produce and a plasticizer in chewing gum, within local food-additive rules.
Pharmaceuticals
Coating and polishing agent for tablets and capsules.
Candles
Vegetable-wax candles and blends that need a higher melting point and a smooth surface.
Polishes
Furniture, floor, car and shoe polishes that need hardness and gloss.
Industrial Uses
Printing inks, crayons, coatings and release agents in technical wax blends.
US food use: rice bran wax is listed under 21 CFR 172.890 for candy and fresh-produce coatings (up to 50 ppm) and chewing gum (up to 2.5%). Confirm the rules of your destination market before use in food.

FAQ
Rice Bran Wax Sourcing Questions
What is rice bran wax made from?
Rice bran wax is recovered from crude rice bran oil during dewaxing, then de-oiled, degummed, decolorized and refined. It is a plant-derived wax with CAS No. 8016-60-2.
Can rice bran wax replace carnauba or candelilla wax?
In many formulations, yes. Its melting point of 77–82 °C sits between candelilla and carnauba, so it can replace them fully or partly in lipsticks, balms, polishes and coatings. We recommend a formulation trial with a sample.
Is your rice bran wax suitable for food use?
In the US, rice bran wax is permitted under 21 CFR 172.890 for candy and fresh-produce coatings and in chewing gum. Food-use rules differ by country, so tell us your market and we will confirm the grade and documents.
What is the melting point of rice bran wax?
Our refined rice bran wax has a melting point of 77–82 °C, with wax content of at least 97% and oil content of 3% or less.
Do you supply refined and crude rice bran wax?
Yes. Refined rice bran wax in light yellow pellets suits cosmetic, food and technical formulations. Crude wax is available for buyers who refine or blend in-house. Each grade has its own specification sheet.
Can I get a sample and TDS?
Yes. We send a free 500 g sample with the TDS and SDS; the buyer covers the courier cost. Share your application and target quantity, and we reply within one business day.
