Application:
One of the major uses of Tetrabutylurea is as a solvent and electrolyte in electrochemical devices like batteries and supercapacitors. Its high ionic conductivity, low viscosity, and wide electrochemical window make it an excellent choice for these applications. TBU is known for its ability to dissolve various salts and conduct ions efficiently, which is crucial for optimal battery performance.
Tetrabutylurea is also utilized as a solvent for a range of functional materials including dyes, pigments, and polymers. Its distinct solubility characteristics allow it to dissolve compounds that are otherwise insoluble, enabling improved processing and formulation of solutions and coatings. TBU can enhance the stability and performance of these materials while facilitating their application.
In organic synthesis, TBU serves as a reaction medium for diverse chemical transformations. It is used as a solvent in coupling reactions, catalysis, and other organic reactions. TBU can stabilize reactive intermediates and accelerate reaction rates, making it valuable in various synthetic processes.
Additionally, Tetrabutylurea finds application in the pharmaceutical industry as a solubilizing agent for poorly water-soluble drugs. Its high solubility and low toxicity make it suitable for drug formulation, aiding in improving the bioavailability and effectiveness of certain medications. TBU can enhance the solubility and dissolution rate of active pharmaceutical ingredients, facilitating their absorption and therapeutic benefits.
Overall, Tetrabutylurea is a versatile compound used as a solvent, electrolyte, and solubilizing agent in a wide range of applications. Its unique properties make it valuable in various industries, including energy storage, materials science, organic synthesis, and pharmaceuticals.
Description:
Tetrabutylurea(TBU) is mainly used as a solvent for the production of Hydrogen peroxide by anthraquinone method and as a substitute for trioctyl phosphate products. Clear and transparent liquid with slightly higher viscosity than water.
Storage:
Store in a cool and ventilated warehouse. The temperature of the warehouse should not exceed 37 ℃. It should be stored separately from oxidants and edible chemicals, and mixed storage should be avoided. Keep the container sealed. Keep away from sparks and heat sources. The warehouse must be equipped with lightning protection equipment.
The exhaust system should be equipped with grounding devices for conducting and removing static electricity. Adopting explosion-proof lighting and ventilation settings. Prohibit the use of equipment and tools that are prone to sparks. The storage area should be equipped with emergency response equipment for leaks and suitable storage materials.
