FR245 is 2,4,6-tris(2,4,6-tribromophenoxy)-1,3,5-triazine, CAS 25713-60-4. Its structure combines aromatic bromine-containing groups with a triazine ring. It is an additive for selected engineering plastic packages and should be identified by CAS when comparing trade names.
The TDS specifies bromine ≥67%, volatile matter ≤0.20%, melting range 226–230°C and temperature at 2% weight loss ≥335°C. The weight-loss temperature is a thermal-analysis condition, not a guarantee of a permissible processing temperature for every polymer system.
ABS, HIPS and selected engineering plastics require assessment of dispersion, melt processing, colour stability and physical-property retention. Evaluate the complete additive and synergist package at the intended thickness and processing conditions before claiming a fire-test result.
