What Is Stannous Methanesulfonate?
Stannous methanesulfonate (tin(II) methanesulfonate), CAS 53408-94-9, EC 401-640-7, is the tin source for methanesulfonic acid tin and tin-alloy plating baths. MSA baths are used for electronics, connectors and lead-free solderable finishes.
The clear liquid has Sn(II) above 300 g/L, relative density 1.55, colour ≤15 APHA, sulfate ≤5 ppm and limits on Fe(III) and other impurities.
It ships as Class 8 corrosive. Keep it sealed to limit oxidation of Sn(II) to Sn(IV).
