What Is Sodium Benzenesulfinate?
Sodium benzenesulfinate (BSS), CAS 873-55-2, C6H5NaO2S, is an aromatic sulfinate. It is used as a nickel-plating brightener carrier and as a reagent in organic synthesis.
The white flakes have content 98.0–99.9%, pH 6.5–7.5, loss on drying ≤20%, chloride ≤0.5% and sulfate ≤0.2%.
It is not regulated as dangerous goods. Nickel brightener components are combined in a balanced package; addition rates are set by Hull cell tests and bath analysis.
