PPSOH at a Glance
PPSOH is pyridinium hydroxypropyl sulfobetaine, CAS 3918-73-8, a zwitterionic additive evaluated for brightness and levelling in nickel electroplating. The active component has formula C8H11NO4S and molecular weight 217.24 g/mol; these describe the active substance rather than an entire commercial solution. Supply specification: 40% / 45% liquid; 78% powder. ZXCHEM supplies this material from China in 25 kg drums.

What Is PPSOH?
PPSOH is pyridinium hydroxypropyl sulfobetaine, CAS 3918-73-8, a zwitterionic additive evaluated for brightness and levelling in nickel electroplating. The active component has formula C8H11NO4S and molecular weight 217.24 g/mol; these describe the active substance rather than an entire commercial solution.
ZXCHEM offers 40% and 45% colourless liquid grades and a 78% white powder grade. The liquids specify pH 2.0–4.0, with density at 20°C of 1.25–1.30 and 1.29–1.34 g/mL respectively. The powder specifies pH 2.5–6.0, sodium chloride ≤22% and pyridine ≤0.01%; its 10% aqueous solution is clear and colourless.
Evaluate the selected grade as a brightener and levelling component with the complete nickel-plating additive package. Active concentration, bath composition, current-density distribution and dosing method affect the result. Establish addition rates and maintenance from qualified trials, not from unrelated concentrate-volume and active-mass values.
Standard packing is 25 kg drums. Compare the grade-specific specification and batch COA before formulation. The active-substance reference is non-dangerous goods for ADR/RID, IMDG and IATA, while skin, eye and respiratory irritation require controlled handling. The reference does not certify unlisted solvents or exact supplied-grade co-ingredient fractions.

PPSOH Applications
Nickel brightener concentrates
Component for qualified nickel-electroplating brightener packages. Select liquid or powder grade against active concentration, concentrate compatibility and mixing requirements.
Nickel-bath levelling development
Additive for controlled levelling and surface-appearance evaluation. Test performance across the intended current-density range and actual bath composition.
Plating additive package optimisation
Ingredient for adjusting technically supervised nickel additive systems. Evaluate co-additive interactions, analytical control and replenishment using representative plating trials.

PPSOH FAQ
Which PPSOH grade should I choose?
Compare 40% / 45% liquid; 78% powder against your process requirements. Check the TDS for assay and impurity limits, then test a sample for compatibility and performance in your process.
Can I request a PPSOH sample for testing?
Request a free sample for testing. Tell us the intended Pyridinium hydroxypropyl sulfobetaine application, preferred grade and the tests you plan to perform, so that we can arrange a suitable evaluation sample and technical information.
How is PPSOH packed and shipped?
Standard packing is 25 kg drums. The usual MOQ is 1,000 kg, with a lead time of approximately 14 days from order confirmation. The reference bulk transport classification is Non-dangerous goods.
Which documents are available for PPSOH?
The TDS covers supply specifications; the reference SDS covers safety and transport. Both can be downloaded on this page. A batch COA can be provided with supply. Request documents for the grade and physical form you are ordering.
Request a PPSOH Quotation
