Storage & Shipping

Storage Conditions

Store tightly closed in a cool, dry, secure and ventilated place away from heat, sunlight, ignition sources, acids and strong oxidizers. Prevent moisture ingress and uncontrolled dust; maintain appropriate separation between stacks.

Packaging integrity

Inspect the closure and liner before receipt. Keep the original label and reseal opened containers to prevent contamination.

Packaging

110–180 kg iron drums, 850–900 kg wooden boxes or 25–50 kg bags; confirm the quoted format and authorized dangerous-goods packing.

Handling & Protection

Review the grade SDS before transfer, sampling or processing. Use suitable ventilation, protective equipment and compatible handling equipment.

What Is Potassium Ethyl Xanthate (KEX)?

Potassium ethyl xanthate (KEX), CAS 140-89-6, is the potassium salt of ethyl xanthic acid. Like sodium ethyl xanthate, it is a weak but selective collector, used where sulfides float readily and iron sulfides need to stay out of the concentrate.

This industrial grade specifies at least 85.0% xanthate, with limits on free alkali and moisture plus volatile matter listed in the specification table. It is supplied as pale-yellow to yellow free-flowing powder or pellets. Dosage and addition point depend on the ore, liberation, pulp pH and the rest of the reagent scheme, so plants usually set them through bench tests and plant trials.

KEX ships as UN 3342, Xanthates, Class 4.2, packing group II. Keep it dry, cool and away from acids, oxidizers and ignition sources. The SDS on this page is based on a higher-purity reference solid; the batch COA reports the composition of the material you receive.

As a potassium ethyl xanthate supplier and exporter in China, ZXCHEM packs KEX in 110–180 kg iron drums, 850–900 kg wooden boxes or 25–50 kg bags, in dangerous-goods approved packaging. Lead time is about 14 days from order confirmation.

FORMULATION

Potassium Ethyl Xanthate (KEX) Applications

Selective sulfide flotation

Collector for readily floated copper and lead sulfides where concentrate grade and pyrite rejection come first. Recovery and grade are compared at controlled pH and reagent addition on representative ore.

Polymetallic ores

Used in lead-zinc and polymetallic circuits together with activators and depressants. Laboratory and plant trials compare it with other collectors on recovery and on pyrite and gangue response.

Solution preparation

Dissolve the solid under a controlled plant procedure with ventilation and compatible equipment. Keep acids out and use prepared solutions promptly, since xanthate solutions degrade over time.
