Perfluorooctyltrimethoxysilane, CAS 85857-16-5, C11H13F13O3Si, molecular weight 468.28 g/mol, is a fluoroalkyl silane. It bonds to glass, ceramics, metal oxides and other hydroxyl-bearing surfaces and gives very low surface energy, so treated surfaces repel water, oil and dirt. It is used for anti-fingerprint and easy-clean coatings and for treating fillers and pigments.
The supply grade has purity above 97.0%. It hydrolyses with moisture, releasing alcohol, so keep containers sealed.
