Storage Conditions
Keep tightly sealed in a cool, dry, ventilated area. Protect from moisture and water contact. Store away from alcohols, alkali metals, strong oxidizers and strong reducing agents.

What Is Maleic Anhydride?
Maleic anhydride is an unsaturated cyclic anhydride with molecular formula C4H2O3 and molecular weight 98.06 g/mol. Its reactive anhydride and carbon-carbon double bond make it useful in resin manufacture and the synthesis of selected chemical intermediates.
The supplied grade has assay ≥99.0%, solidification point ≥52.4°C, ash ≤0.005% and iron ≤5 ppm. These supply controls support evaluation of reaction consistency and impurity tolerance. The material hydrolyzes on contact with water to form maleic acid, making moisture-resistant packaging and dry handling important.
A major application is unsaturated polyester resin manufacture with suitable glycols and other acid components. Maleic anhydride is also used to produce selected lubricant, polymer and surfactant intermediates. Reaction conditions and purity requirements depend on the complete synthesis and final product.
Bulk transport is UN 2215, Class 8, packing group III. The material is corrosive and can cause respiratory or skin sensitization. Dust control, suitable protective equipment and segregation from incompatible materials are required during storage and production use.
