What Is Sodium Alpha Olefin Sulfonate (AOS)?
Sodium alpha olefin sulfonate (AOS), CAS 68439-57-6, is an anionic surfactant with strong, fast foam that holds up well in hard water. It is used as a primary or secondary surfactant in shampoos, body washes, liquid detergents and industrial cleaners, including sulfate-free formulas.
This liquid grade has active matter of at least 34.5%, with limits on free oil, inorganic sulfate, free alkali and colour at 5% active matter. As a mixture of chain lengths it has no single formula.
AOS is not regulated as dangerous goods. Compare concentrates on active matter, since strengths differ between suppliers.
