What Is ATMP 50% Solution?
ATMP (amino trimethylene phosphonic acid), CAS 6419-19-8, is supplied as a 50% acidic solution. Its phosphonic acid groups bind metal ions, and at low dose it inhibits calcium carbonate scale, which makes it a common component of cooling-water and boiler-water treatment programmes.
Active content is 48–52% expressed as ATMP acid. Density and pH are given at a stated temperature and dilution, so compare them only with values measured on the same basis.
The solution is corrosive and ships as UN 3265, Class 8, packing group II. Use compatible transfer equipment and protective gear when handling it.

Scale inhibitor and sequestrant in cooling-water programmes. The dose is set from hardness, alkalinity, temperature and the other chemicals in the programme.
Boiler-water formulations
Component of boiler-water treatment formulations. Compatibility with pH adjusters, other phosphonates and oxidizing or reducing additives is checked first.
Industrial cleaning
Chelating agent where metal ions interfere with cleaning. Surface compatibility and corrosion are checked, especially when the formulation runs at acidic pH.
