Handling & Protection

Avoid generating or breathing dust. Use local extraction, chemical-resistant gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses. Prevent discharge to drains and surface water.

What Is 2-Ethyl Anthraquinone?

2-Ethylanthraquinone (2-EAQ), CAS 84-51-5, has the formula C16H12O2 and a molecular weight of 236.27 g/mol. It is the working compound of the anthraquinone process for hydrogen peroxide: it is hydrogenated and then oxidized in a continuous cycle, releasing hydrogen peroxide each time. It is also used as a dye intermediate and in photosensitive resins.

Grade I (≥98.5%) and Grade II (≥98.0%) differ in assay, benzene-insoluble matter, moisture and trace iron, chlorine and sulfur. Both have a minimum initial melting point of 107°C on a dry basis. The TDS also lists a Grade III with an initial melting point of at least 106°C.

Grade choice depends on working-solution solubility and the impurity tolerance of the plant. 2-EAQ ships as Class 9, environmentally hazardous substance.

As a 2-ethylanthraquinone supplier and exporter in China, ZXCHEM packs the pale yellow flakes or powder in 25 kg drums.

FORMULATION

2-Ethyl Anthraquinone Applications

Hydrogen peroxide production

Working compound in the anthraquinone hydrogenation-oxidation cycle. The grade is matched to the plant limits for assay, insoluble matter and trace elements.

Dye and chemical intermediates

Intermediate for anthraquinone dyes and related chemicals. Purity and impurity profile are checked against the synthesis route.

Photosensitive resins

Photoinitiator component in photosensitive resin and polymer systems. Solubility, colour and cure response are tested in the formulation.
