What Is Tomato Lycopene?
Tomato lycopene is a red carotenoid powder from tomato, standardized to more than 5% lycopene (CAS 502-65-8, C40H56, 536.87 g/mol for the lycopene component). It is used as a red-orange colour and a lycopene source in food and nutritional products where permitted.
The TDS specifies lycopene above 5%, 100% passing 30 mesh, and limits on cadmium, arsenic, lead, total heavy metals and microbes. Ethyl acetate is the extraction solvent.
Lycopene oxidizes in air, light and heat, so keep the cartons sealed, dark and dry; shelf life is 24 months unopened. It is not regulated as dangerous goods; control airborne dust. Food and beverage use requires a grade permitted in the destination market. No health claim is made.
