The supply specification controls hydrochloric-acid-insoluble matter, chloride and iron at ≤0.005% each, lead at ≤0.02%, and alkaline plus alkaline-earth metals at ≤0.10%. Tin-plating formulators evaluate this salt for acidic electroplating baths and bright tin deposition on electronic components. It also provides a tin source for electrolytic colouring of aluminium profiles and selected printing, dyeing and chemical-processing applications.
