Sodium allyl sulfonate, CAS 2495-39-8, is supplied as a colourless clear aqueous solution with effective content ≥35.0%. Also known as SAS, its active component has formula C3H5NaO3S and molecular weight 144.12 g/mol; these values describe the component rather than the whole solution.
The supply specification controls pH at 6.5–9.0, density at 1.20–1.28 g/cm³ at 20°C, sodium chloride at ≤4.5% and calcium at ≤10 mg/kg. These limits support formulation and incoming quality checks. Compare test results on the specified basis and use the agreed batch certificate of analysis.
SAS is evaluated as a nickel-plating brightener and functional additive for metal distribution and ductility. Its sulfonated functionality is also used in water-treatment polymers and acrylic-fibre modification.
