Store tightly closed in a cool, dry, ventilated place with controlled access. Keep separate from strong acids, peroxides and fluorine; protect from moisture and cross-contamination.

Handling & Protection
Use enclosed handling and local extraction to prevent nickel exposure. Wear suitable chemical-resistant gloves, protective clothing and eye protection. Use respiratory protection where the exposure assessment requires it. Keep contaminated work clothing separate and prevent releases to drains.
What Is Nickel(II) Oxide?
Nickel(II) oxide (NiO), CAS 1313-99-1, molecular weight 74.69 g/mol, is supplied in green and black grades. It is a starting material for nickel catalysts, ceramic and glass colourants, and nickel-containing electrochemical and specialty materials.
Both grades have purity ≥99.0%. Nickel is above 76% in the green grade and at least 76% in the black grade. D50 is 4–5 µm for green and 5–6 µm for black. Cobalt, iron, calcium and sodium limits differ by grade; copper, zinc and manganese limits are the same.
NiO is not regulated as dangerous goods, but nickel dust can cause skin sensitization, cancer by inhalation and lung damage on repeated exposure. Use enclosed handling, dust extraction and suitable respiratory protection.
