Description:
Dimethyl benzyl carbinol is not available in its natural state. DMBC is synthesized by Grignard Reaction using benzyl chloride, acetone and magnesium. It is quite normal that occasionally the product may turn cloudy or precipitate out. When this happens, reheat the drum in a water-bath or heating-box with the temperature below 50℃ and both caps loosened.
Application:
- Dimethyl benzyl carbinol is used as aroma ingredient in food flavors and cosmetic and soap essences. Food grade DMBC (2-Methyl-1-phenyl-2-propanol) is used as flavor ingredient in formulation of vanilla and fruit flavors.
- Industry grade dimethyl benzyl carbinol is widely used as perfume material for formulations of lilacs, lily of the valley, orange blossom, rose, narcissus, frangipani, jasmine and other advanced floral fragrances
