What Is Bacteriological Peptone?
Bacteriological Peptone is a complex protein hydrolysate containing peptides and amino acids. Water-soluble organic nitrogen source for microbiological culture media and fermentation development. It is identified by CAS 73049-73-7 and is supplied as a light-yellow powder.
The supply specification controls total nitrogen ≥14.5%, amino nitrogen ≥2.5%, pH 5.0–7.0, ash ≤10% and moisture ≤7%. Water solubility is complete, with a clear solution and no precipitation under the stated specification. These limits differ from reagent-grade products with different hydrolysis processes.
