What Is 2-Acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonic Acid (AMPS)?
AMPS (2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid, ATBS), CAS 15214-89-8, C7H13NO4S, is a sulfonic-acid monomer. Copolymers made with it resist salt, calcium and high temperature, so it is used in scale inhibitors, oilfield polymers, superplasticizers, superabsorbents and personal-care polymers.
The white powder has HPLC assay ≥99.0%, with limits on non-volatile matter, acid value, water, iron and solution colour (≤50 Hazen).
It is not regulated as dangerous goods. Keep it dry and cool to avoid premature polymerization.
