What Is Alkyl-Silicon-Treated Iron Oxides?
Alkyl-silicon-treated iron oxides are hydrophobic cosmetic pigments in three grades: ASR336 red, ASY337 yellow and ASB331 black (CAS 1309-37-1 / 51274-00-1 / 1317-61-9). The coating improves dispersion in oils and water resistance in foundations, powders and eye make-up.
The TDS controls 325-mesh passing ≥99.5%, relative tinting strength 95–105% and colour difference ΔE ≤1.0, with limits on lead, arsenic, mercury and microbes. Shade is compared with the agreed standard for each grade.
Iron oxides are not regulated as dangerous goods; control dust during transfer and blending, and keep lot identity when mixing grades. Shelf life is 24 months unopened.
