Storage Conditions
Keep tightly closed in a cool, ventilated area, away from heat, flame and direct sunlight. Maintain storage below 60°C as specified by the supply TDS; separate from strong oxidizers and finely divided metals.

What Is 2-Ethylhexyl Nitrate (2-EHN)?
2-Ethylhexyl nitrate (2-EHN), CAS 27247-96-7, C8H17NO3, molecular weight 175.23 g/mol, is the standard cetane improver for diesel fuel. It shortens ignition delay, which raises the cetane number of the fuel; treat rate is set by fuel and engine testing.
The TDS specifies purity ≥99.5%, alcohol ≤0.5%, water ≤400 ppm and acidity as nitric acid ≤30 ppm, with density 0.967 ± 0.005 kg/L at 15°C.
2-EHN must be protected from overheating and confinement. It is harmful by skin contact and inhalation and toxic to aquatic life, and ships as UN 3082, Class 9, packing group III under IMDG and IATA.
