Sodium Diisobutyl Dithiophosphate Specifications
This product is a dithiophosphate (CAS 53378-51-1), not the dithiophosphinate CAS 13360-78-6.
Commercial Information
Storage & Shipping
Storage Conditions
Keep tightly closed in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from acids, strong oxidizers and heat. Use compatible containers, protect closures from damage and prevent release to acidic drains.
Packaging Integrity
Inspect compatible plastic drums, IBC valves, seals and secondary containment before transfer. Protect containers from impact and contamination; keep labels visible and close dispensing connections promptly.
Packaging
200 kg drums / 1,100 kg IBC
Handling & Protection
Use closed transfer or local extraction where practicable. Wear chemical-resistant gloves, protective clothing, splash goggles and face protection. Avoid mist and skin contact; acid contamination can generate toxic hydrogen sulfide, so never rely on odour to detect a release.
What Is Sodium Diisobutyl Dithiophosphate?
Sodium diisobutyl dithiophosphate is a liquid flotation collector with 49–53% active content. The active component has CAS 53378-51-1, formula C8H18NaO2PS2 and molecular weight 264.32 g/mol. It is a different substance from sodium diisobutyl dithiophosphinate (CAS 13360-78-6), and the two have separate specifications and SDS.
Dithiophosphates collect more weakly and more selectively than xanthates and are often dosed together with them. This grade is used for copper, zinc and lead sulfides and for gold and silver carried by sulfides, with low pyrite flotation in alkaline circuits. Dosage is set through bench tests on the actual ore.
The supply specification gives active content 49–53%, pH 10–13 and specific gravity 1.10 ±0.05 at 20°C. The faint yellow to yellow-brown liquid is water soluble and can be dosed directly or diluted.
It ships as UN 1719, Caustic alkali liquid, n.o.s., Class 8, packing group II. Store it away from acids and oxidizers and use eye and skin protection; acid contact can release toxic hydrogen sulfide. As a sodium diisobutyl dithiophosphate supplier and exporter in China, ZXCHEM packs it in 200 kg drums or 1,100 kg IBC.

Sodium Diisobutyl Dithiophosphate Applications
Copper and zinc sulfide flotation
Selective collector for copper sulfides and activated sphalerite. It gives good copper recovery with low pyrite flotation in alkaline pulp.
Lead and polymetallic ores
Used in lead-zinc and complex polymetallic circuits, often with a xanthate. Mineral association and stage-by-stage recovery decide the reagent scheme.
Gold and silver in sulfides
Recovers gold and silver carried by sulfide minerals. Often added with a xanthate to raise precious-metal recovery without pulling more pyrite into the concentrate.
