Sodium Di(isobutyl)dithiophosphinate Specifications
This product is a dithiophosphinate (CAS 13360-78-6), not the dithiophosphate CAS 53378-51-1.
Commercial Information
Storage & Shipping
Storage Conditions
Keep tightly closed in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from acids, strong oxidizers and heat. Use compatible containers, protect closures from damage and prevent release to acidic drains.
Packaging Integrity
Inspect compatible plastic drums, IBC valves, seals and secondary containment before transfer. Protect containers from impact and contamination; keep labels visible and close dispensing connections promptly.
Packaging
100 kg plastic drums / 1,000 kg IBC
Handling & Protection
Use closed transfer or local extraction where practicable. Wear chemical-resistant gloves, protective clothing, splash goggles and face protection. Avoid mist and skin contact; acid contamination can generate toxic hydrogen sulfide, so never rely on odour to detect a release.
What Is Sodium Di(isobutyl)dithiophosphinate?
Sodium di(isobutyl)dithiophosphinate is a liquid flotation collector with 49–53% active content. The active component has CAS 13360-78-6, formula C8H18NaPS2 and molecular weight 232.32 g/mol. It is a different substance from sodium diisobutyl dithiophosphate (CAS 53378-51-1), and the two have separate specifications and SDS.
Dithiophosphinate collectors are selective for copper, lead and zinc sulfides and for precious metals, with low iron-sulfide flotation. They are used alone or with xanthates in copper, lead-zinc and gold circuits, and dosage is set through bench tests on the actual ore.
The specification gives active content 49–53%, a yellowish liquid appearance, pH 7.0–10.0 and relative density 1.08–1.18 at 25°C.
It is not regulated as dangerous goods under TDG, DOT, IMDG or IATA, but it causes serious eye damage and may cause allergic skin reactions, so eye, skin and spill controls still apply. Acid contact can release toxic hydrogen sulfide. As a dithiophosphinate collector supplier and exporter in China, ZXCHEM packs it in 100 kg plastic drums or 1,000 kg IBC.

Sodium Di(isobutyl)dithiophosphinate Applications
Copper and zinc sulfides
Selective collector for copper sulfides and activated sphalerite, with low pyrite pickup. Activation, pH and depressant choice decide the final recovery and concentrate grade.
Lead-zinc and complex ores
Used for galena and complex polymetallic feeds, alone or with a xanthate. Competing sulfide recovery is checked at each flotation stage before the reagent scheme is fixed.
Precious-metal recovery
Recovers gold and silver associated with sulfide minerals in copper and lead circuits. Liberation and collector combination are confirmed through bench and plant trials.
