What Is Thioglycolic Acid?
Thioglycolic acid (mercaptoacetic acid), CAS 68-11-1, C2H4O2S, molecular weight 92.12 g/mol, is a reducing agent. It is used to make thioglycolates for hair waving and depilatory products, organotin PVC stabilizers and ore-flotation agents.
The industrial liquid is yellowish; typical density is 1.326 g/mL at 20°C, melting point −16°C and refractive index 1.505. The assay is agreed with the order.
It ships as Class 8 corrosive and is toxic, so use closed handling and full protective equipment.
