What Is Refined Glycerine 99.5%?
Refined glycerine (glycerol) 99.5%, CAS 56-81-5, is a clear, colourless, hygroscopic liquid. It is one of the most widely used humectants in creams, lotions, cleansers and toothpaste, and a solvent and processing aid in cosmetic and industrial formulations.
The TDS specifies glycerine ≥99.5%, colour ≤20 Hazen, density ≥1.2598 g/mL, sulfated ash ≤0.01%, acidity ≤0.1 mmol/100 g and saponification equivalent ≤1.0 mmol/100 g. It is clear and odourless.
Glycerine absorbs moisture from the air, so keep containers sealed. It is not regulated as dangerous goods. Food and pharmaceutical uses need a separately approved grade.
