Refined Glycerine 99.5%, also known as Glycerol, is a transparent, colourless hygroscopic liquid identified by CAS 56-81-5. Its humectant and solvent functions support selected personal-care, cosmetic and industrial formulations.
The local 2026 TDS specifies glycerine ≥99.5%, colour ≤20 Hazen and density ≥1.2598 g/mL. Sulfated ash ≤0.01%, acidity ≤0.1 mmol/100 g and saponification equivalent ≤1.0 mmol/100 g support grade comparison. Appearance is transparent without suspended solids and odour is specified as odourless.
Creams, lotions, cleansers and other cosmetic systems should evaluate moisture retention, texture, viscosity, compatibility and preservation in the final formula. Hygroscopic behaviour makes sealed handling and contamination control important. Refined purity alone does not establish suitability for every regulated use.
