What Is Epoxidized Soybean Oil?
Epoxidized soybean oil is a variable-composition epoxidized triglyceride material. It is used in PVC formulations as a secondary plasticizer and acid scavenger. The supplied grade controls epoxide value, density, acid value, color and heat loss. A single molecular formula or molecular weight does not describe the oil. Compatibility and thermal behavior must be assessed in the full resin and stabilizer formulation; regulated end-use suitability requires separate qualification.
