Allyl Methacrylate (AMA) Specifications
Supply specifications follow the stated ZXCHEM TDS. Select the grade against the intended process and evaluate the complete formulation.
Commercial Information
Storage & Shipping
Storage Conditions
Store in a cool, temperature-controlled flammable-liquid area in the original inhibited condition. Protect from ignition, sunlight and heat; keep separated from initiators and incompatible chemicals.
Packaging Integrity
Inspect drum closures, seals and pallet restraints before unloading. Keep upright, protect from heat and mechanical damage and use clean dedicated transfer connections.
Packaging
180 kg steel drums
Handling & Protection
Use closed grounded transfer with effective vapor capture and restricted access. Prevent inhalation and skin absorption; wear compatible chemical gloves, goggles, face protection and protective clothing. Provide assessed respiratory controls and emergency equipment.
What Is Allyl Methacrylate (AMA)?
Allyl methacrylate, AMA, CAS 96-05-9, contains both methacrylate and allyl unsaturation. It is a reactive comonomer for selected polymer and crosslinking systems. Its dual functionality differs from monofunctional methacrylates and should be evaluated with the actual polymerization process.
The TDS specifies purity ≥99.5%, acid value ≤0.02% on the stated TDS basis, water ≤0.02%, colour ≤10 APHA and inhibitor 20±5 ppm. Preserve the stabilizer condition and compare impurity limits on the same test basis. Another supplier inhibitor level is not the delivered specification.
Selected acrylic resins, elastomers, adhesives and coatings require controlled trials of conversion, crosslink development, viscosity and final properties. Establish temperature control, initiator balance and the appropriate reaction sequence in the complete process.
This flammable and acutely toxic liquid requires closed transfer, effective vapor control and trained chemical handling. Standard packing is 180 kg steel drums; the TDS lists 14.4 MT per 20-foot FCL. The matched current transport reference identifies Class 6.1 with subsidiary Class 3, UN 2929, packing group II.
