What Is Beet Red?
Beet red (CAS 57917-55-2) is a water-soluble natural colour from beetroot, supplied as a red-violet powder. It gives red to purple shades in dairy, confectionery, beverages and other foods where permitted, and in natural colour blends.
The TDS controls colour strength against the declared grade, loss on drying ≤7%, ash ≤4% and pH 5–7 in a 10% solution, with trace-element and microbiological limits.
Beet red is sensitive to heat and light, so it suits products with mild processing. It is not regulated as dangerous goods. Food and beverage use requires a grade permitted in the destination market.
