What Is p-tert-Butylbenzoic Acid (PTBBA)?
p-tert-Butylbenzoic acid (PTBBA), CAS 98-73-7, is an aromatic acid with a tert-butyl group. It modifies alkyd resins for faster drying and better gloss, and is used in PVC heat stabilizers, lubricant additives and as an intermediate.
The specification sets assay ≥99%, melting range 162–166°C and acid value 312–316 mg KOH/g, with limits on water, ash, iron and colour.
It ships as Class 6.1 toxic solid; control dust.
