What Is Calcium-Sodium PVM-MA Copolymer?
Calcium-sodium PVM/MA copolymer, CAS 62386-95-2, is the mixed calcium and sodium salt of methyl vinyl ether/maleic acid copolymer. It hydrates into a strong, cohesive gel and is best known as the bonding polymer in denture adhesive creams and powders.
The supply specification controls water at 6–15%, calcium at 11–15% on an anhydrous basis and tap density at ≥0.5 g/cc, together with particle-size distribution. pH is measured on 1 g in 1,000 mL of deionized water.
Denture adhesive products need a grade qualified for that use and their own finished-product assessment. The powder is not regulated as dangerous goods.
