PCMC (4-chloro-3-methylphenol, chlorocresol), CAS 59-50-7, is a chlorinated phenol preservative and disinfectant. It is used in disinfectant and cleaning products and to preserve leather, textiles, adhesives and other industrial formulations.
The supply grade has purity above 98.0%, as white or off-white flakes or powder that may be slightly compacted.
PCMC is toxic and ships as Class 6.1. Use dust control and skin and eye protection. Finished disinfectant claims and use levels depend on the formulation and destination market.
