What Is Polyhexamethyleneguanidine Hydrochloride (PHMG)?
PHMG hydrochloride (polyhexamethylene guanidine hydrochloride), CAS 57028-96-3, is a cationic guanidine polymer biocide. Two solid grades are available, 95% and 99%; please state the grade in your inquiry.
PHMG is water-soluble, and pH is specified on a 2% solution. As a polymer it has no single fixed molecular weight. It is cationic, so it can interact with anionic ingredients in a formulation.
The solid has serious inhalation, organ, reproductive and aquatic hazards. Avoid dust and aerosol exposure and environmental release, and never use it in products that are sprayed or inhaled. It is for permitted industrial preservation uses only, not for medical, drinking-water or consumer products.
