What Is Calcium Bromide?
Calcium bromide (CaBr2), CAS 7789-41-5, is a hygroscopic inorganic salt. Dissolved in water, it forms high-density clear brines used for well completion and workover, where solids-free fluids are needed to control well pressure.
This product is the crystalline solid with an assay of at least 96.0%, not a ready-made brine. Chloride and sulfate limits are given for downstream dissolution, and the pH is measured on a 50 g/L solution. Final brine density depends on the concentration and any other salts in the blend.
It is not regulated as dangerous goods under ADR, IMDG or IATA. Wear eye protection when handling the crystals and preparing solutions, and keep containers closed because the salt absorbs moisture.
