Glyoxylic acid 50%, CAS 298-12-4, is an aldehyde-acid intermediate. It is used to make vanillin, allantoin, p-hydroxyphenylglycine and other pharmaceutical and agrochemical intermediates, and in formaldehyde-free hair straightening products.
The supply grade has glyoxylic acid ≥50.0%, with glyoxal ≤0.50%, oxalic acid ≤1.0%, nitric acid below 0.20%, iron below 0.01% and heavy metals below 0.002%.
