What Is Stearic Acid 50?
Stearic Acid 50 is a commercial saturated fatty-acid grade for industrial formulation work. This offer contains C16 palmitic acid and C18 stearic acid rather than high-purity stearic acid alone. CAS 57-11-4 identifies the named stearic component; the mixture composition is shown separately.
The specification controls C16 fatty acid at 50–60%, C18 at 38–45%, acid value at 205–210 mg KOH/g and freezing range at 54–57°C. Colour, moisture, iodine value and inorganic-acid limits support procurement and incoming inspection. The trade grade number does not replace the actual fatty-acid distribution.
Rubber formulation development should evaluate the fatty acid as part of the complete activator, cure and filler system. Plastics processing-aid and release applications require trials for compatibility, lubrication, migration and finished-part performance. Evaluate loading and ageing in the intended polymer and process.
Soap, coating and selected personal-care formulations need application-specific quality and regulatory review.
